The American Society of Ocular Trauma (ASOT) promotes ocular trauma prevention, treatment and rehabilitation through education, research and United States Eye Injury Registry (USEIR) surveillance.

The American Society of Ocular Trauma fulfills this mission through:

Maintenance of a nationwide registry for serious eye injuries to provide data to support education, research and treatment.
Surveillance of changing patterns of ocular trauma in our population.
Educational presentations, symposia and publications for eye care professionals and the public health community.
Collaborative scientific investigations into epidemiology and treatment of serious eye injuries.
Cooperation with relevant legislative efforts, recognizing trauma is a costly public health issue of great community concern.
